Buckaroos -vs- San Juan Broncos

The Buckaroos were a little short handed going into the rivalry dual due to injuries. The young Buckaroos wrestled hard and showed some improvement but were bested by the Broncos.
140- Kelland Brewer -vs- Jade Grover- Kelland gave it his best but was taken down and Grover scored the Fall in the first.
145- San Juan received a forfeit
152- Tim Ryan -vs- Chaze Palmer- San Juan’s Palmer came out strong in the first period earning the take down and two near fall. Ryan was able to reverse out but before the period ended Palmer got a reversal of his own. Ryan choose bottom in the second and was able to score a reversal and three near fall. In the third Palmer chose bottom and Ryan capitalized on it turning Palmer for the Buckaroo fall.
160- Eric Anderson -vs- Jens Grover- The Freshman Anderson faced a tough task taking on Grover. Grover earned the first take down and was able to get Anderson on his back. Anderson fought hard and was able to hold off the fall giving up three near fall. In the second Grover chose bottom and was able to score a reversal and the fall before the period ended. Anderson looked good and is improving week to week.
171- Jake Giles -vs- Nathan Webb- Giles looked good starting off and came out aggressive but was caught early and wasn’t able to get away. Webb was able to secure the fall.
189- Nephi Barlow -vs- Trey Mcdonald- Mcdonald came out strong in the first scoring a take down and three near fall before Barlow was able to escape. Mcdonald then took Barlow down again and earned three near fall before the period ended. In the second Barlow choose top. Mcdonald was able to earn the reversal but not for long as Barlow scored a reversal of his own. Mcdonald fought hard and again got a reversal. Barlow then earned and escape and a take down before the period ended. In the third Mcdonald chose top and was unable to keep Barlow down. Barlow earning an escape then a take down and two quick near fall to close the scoring gap. The match was stopped due to Mcdonald being injured going to the mat. Mcdonald was unable to continue and Barlow won by Injury Default.

103- Bowring Monticello won by Forfeit
112- Dailyn Warren- vs- Dallin Jacobsen- Warren came out hard and looked good in the first earning a take down. Jacobsen was able to reverse Warren but Warren was able to come back and earn his own reversal and three near fall. In the second Jacobsen chose bottom and earned an escape, takedown and earned the fall in the second. The freshman Warren showed some improvements and promise in the match and will surely get better as the season moves on.
119- Brian Robinson -vs- Russell Musselman- Robinson came out the gate quick taking down Musselman and earning two near fall before readjusting and earning the fall in the first.
125- Roque DeAnda -vs- Jayson McDaniel- The young DeAnda wrestled hard moving up from his usual 112 spot. DeAnda showed allot of good things and like the other freshman on the team is improving as well week to week. DeAnda was able to go till late in the second before surrendering the fall.
130- Curtis Baird -vs- Jayden Squires- The young Baird was able to fight hard and come off his back in the first but was unable to hold of Squires in the second and Squires earned the fall.
135- Coltan Musselman -vs.- Ty Hosler- In the match of the night Musselman was able to strike first and fast earning a quick take down and putting Hosler on his back earning three near fall. In the second Hosler chose bottom and was able to get the reversal for the only points scored in the second. In the third Musselman chose bottom and was able to earn an escape and take down but gave up a point on a illegal hold. The match ended with Musselman on top 8-3.
The Buckaroo squad is improving with a lot of youth on the team. The wrestlers travel to the Manti Tournament this weekend and are then off for the Christmas break. The Buckaroos have a lot to look forward to after Christmas as most starters will be healed and back in action after the break. The Buckaroo fans are excited to see incoming freshman Austin Wilcox who has been out all year with a injury due to the football season.
